Seasons 52 (Phoenix)

Updated: Nov 29, 2022

If you are looking for an upscale restaurant to wine and dine your date or clients, this is the place for you. Dimly lit dinner ambiance, hardwood decor, cloth napkins, and black tie staff attire give a dress-up feel. The staff was very friendly and attentive, the food was excellent. Cost was slightly expensive, but reasonable given the elegant nature of the restaurant.

There is a huge wine selection, ranging from reasonably priced to very expensive. The wine flights were a good option, especially when eating a multi-course meal. Preferring red wine, I ordered the Caymus flight. It included a Sun Sea Pinot Noir that was light and fruity, The Walking Fool red blend that was woody, dry, and smooth, and a Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon that was dry, mellow, and smooth. Fortunately, each of the wines complimented a different part of the meal which was a total accident on my part.

The Lobster Bisque soup was hot and creamy with a slight lobster taste that was not overwhelming, served with oyster crackers. This soup paired wonderfully with The Walking Fool red blend. It was a very nice lead-in to a tasty seafood entrée.

For an entrée I ordered the Sesame-Grilled Salmon Salad. The Salmon was a glazed, thick cut of perfectly cooked meat that paired nicely with the Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon. The salad was a mix of fruit and vegetables over mixed greens and a small amount of dressing that was more for appearance than taste. To be clear, the dressing was not needed and did not impact the overall taste of the salad. Given the fruit in the salad, it paired perfectly with the Sun Sea Pinot Noir.

The dessert menu offered a wide variety of elaborate small options. Being a friend of chocolate, I ordered the Belgian Chocolate S’more Mini. It comes in a tall, narrow glass with a graham cracker and a marshmallow to top it off. The top layer was a dark chocolate, followed by mousse in the center, and chocolate cake at the bottom. Normally a small desert is not enough, but in this case it was the right amount because this desert is very rich, but very good.

For an after-dinner drink, this whiskey-lover ordered a New Old Fashioned. It came in a relatively large glass compared to Old Fashioned drinks I have ordered at other restaurants. This version of the classic drink was very spicy, which I enjoyed but others may not. The spice overwhelmed the other tastes, making this version an all or nothing experience based on your taste for spice. There were many other custom-made drinks on the menu that looked exceptional.
